ASSET group is currently working on the following projects:

BC Housing Professorship in Resilient Reinforced Concrete Buildings

In partnership with BC Housing, this project focuses on improving the resilience and sustainability of reinforced concrete buildings in BC. Research areas include seismic performance, post-earthquake functionality, climate adaptation, hybrid systems, and innovative materials—all aimed at advancing durable, energy-efficient construction.

Development of Canadian seismic design procedures for precast concrete shear wall buildings

This project, in partnership with CPCI, aims to develop seismic design guidelines for precast concrete shear wall buildings in Canada. Through advanced modelling and analysis, the research will address current knowledge gaps, improve design practices, and propose new systems suitable for high-seismic regions, supporting rapid, durable, and affordable construction across the country.

Seismic design of high-rise buildings using precast core walls

This project aims to develop seismically robust precast concrete core wall systems for high-rise buildings in Canada. By advancing design methods, connection detailing, and experimental testing, the research addresses key challenges in using modular precast systems in seismic regions. The outcomes will support faster, more sustainable construction while informing future building code provisions.

Innovative Solutions & Technologies for Construction of Sustainable, Resilient, and Cost-effective Buildings in Canada

In collaboration with TEBO Group, this project focuses on developing innovative materials, systems, and methods to support sustainable, resilient, and cost-effective building construction in Canada. The research aims to reduce environmental impact, enhance disaster resilience, and accelerate housing delivery, advancing both industry practice and societal well-being.

Seismic design of Outriggered Tall Building

This project investigates the seismic performance of damped outrigger systems in tall concrete buildings. It aims to better understand the seismic response of these systems, providing the foundation for developing practical seismic design guidelines to enhance the performance of Canadian high-rises.

Development of Canadian design guidelines for Steel Reinforced Coupling Beams (SRCBs)
