Dr. Ryo Kuwabara is a research assistant (MEng). His research interests include the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, with a particular focus on post-earthquake assessment for building repairability, residual capacity, and building retrofit. His research experience includes experimental testing, such as shake table tests of a large-scale five-story RC building, static loading tests of RC pile-cap joint assemblies, RC beams, and RC walls. In addition to experimental work, his research also involves numerical modeling of full-scale five-story RC test buildings and RC components. His research contributions have been recognized in developing repair guidelines for the United State (ATC-145), and retrofit guidelines for New Zealand (in progress). He is currently working on developing design methodologies of precast concrete wall buildings for Canda, including large-scale testing..
